Laura Burrell has been a leading figure in driving VIMN’s international format business since 2009, as part of Viacom International Studios.
Laura is responsible for overseeing Viacom International’s extensive portfolio of format titles from its core brands including MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon, and for spearheading the international rollout of its hit formats. Leading the international formats team Laura’s work encompasses all aspects of format exploitation, including negotiating deals with third party broadcasters and producers worldwide, and overseeing the initial production phase to ensure that format adaptations are created to the highest standard. In addition to her work with 3rd parties, Laura also regularly advises VIMN’s local channel networks on upcoming formats opportunities, including co-productions and pre-sales.
Laura has led the global rollout of Paramount Networks’ hit sensation Lip Sync Battle, resulting in 22 local productions across 4 continents in less than 3 years, helping the format to win the Best Comedy category at the 2016 C21Media International Format Awards. More recently, she has brought the reality sensation Ex on the Beach to 13 territories including Sweden, Russia, and Brazil, and the deliciously comic Drunk History to 8 international territories.
Laura has over 20 years’ experience in the field of International Distribution, and more than a decade as a format specialist. She has held a variety of senior positions at leading production and distribution companies including SPTI, ITV Studios, and format specialist Action Time. She has worked on the international rollout of hit franchises such as I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, Dancing on Ice, Hell’s Kitchen, Dragon’s Den, The Power of 10 and Who Wants to be a Millionaire. She is also a fully qualified fitness instructor in her spare time, teaching a range of fitness classes across London.
