Teresa Fernández-Valdés holds a degree in Journalism from the CEU San Pablo University and a Master’s Degree in Audiovisual Production and Management from the University of A Coruña. Initially, she developed her professional activity as a journalist in different media and, after this stage, she fully incorporated herself into audiovisual production.
In 2008, alongside with Ramón Campos, she founded the production company Bambú Producciones. Both managed to standed out prominently in the fiction scene and produced different series that achieved national and international success: Grand Hotel, Velvet, and Cocaine Coast are some of them.
After these successes, in 2014 Bambú becomes the first Spanish production company to coproduce a series with BBC Worldwide, entitled The Refugees. In 2016, Bambú produces the first original Netflix series in Spain, Cable Girls, with big success at international level.
In 2018 Bambu decides to go for film production as well, and gets involved in two projects: 32 Malasaña Street, a horror film with a remarkable international success and Our Summer Together, a romantic drama released in December 2020.
Currently, Bambú is immersed in the production of A Private Affair, first series of the company for Amazon starred Jean Reno and Now And Then, the first Apple TV Spanish series, a thriller set in Miami, filmed both in English and Spanish.
Teresa Fernández-Valdés was listed as one of the most powerful showrunners of European and world television in 2014 and 2016, by the international magazine The Hollywood Reporter. In addition to this, in 2017, the important economic magazine Forbes named Fernández-Valdés as one of the most powerful women in Spain.
In April 2018, MipTV, the longest running international television market hold evey year in Cannes, awards Teresa the Médaille D´Honneur, being the first Spanish woman to receive it, for her significant contribution to the world of television and the development of the international TV community through her talent, leadership and passion.
