Julian Bellamy is the Managing Director of ITV Studios, one of the leading independent producers and distributors in the world.
ITV Studios is home to 55 production companies based around the world which house some of the best creative minds, crafting over 8,400 hours of original programming each year. The critically acclaimed, universally adored and award-winning Bodyguard; Queer Eye; I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here; The Chase, The Voice; Hell’s Kitchen; Come Dine with Me; Line of Duty and Love Island are just some of the programmes made by the production companies within ITV Studios and sold by the distribution business.
ITV Studios global footprint spans 13 countries including the UK, US, Australia, France, Germany, The Nordics, Italy and the Netherlands and its global distribution business sells a catalogue of 45,000+ hours. It is the largest commercial production company in the UK, the largest independent producer of non-scripted content in America and the second largest global distributor based from the UK. ITV Studios is part of ITV PlC, a leading digital and entertainment company which includes the UK’s largest commercial broadcaster.
Julian joined ITV in 2014 as Managing Director of ITV Studios in the UK. He was promoted to Managing Director of ITV Studios and appointed to the Management Board in February 2016.
He currently sits on the Board of Trustees for the Royal Television Society and is ITV’s representative on The TV And Film Charity’s cross industry taskforce.
Prior to his role at ITV, Julian was Creative Director and Head of Commissioning at Discovery Networks International where he ran production and development across 200 countries. With commissioning teams in five international bases he helped to make the company a big player in the development and production of content all around the globe.
Julian joined Discovery from Channel 4, where he held the role of Head of Channel 4, managing over 2000 hours of original programming a year including Undercover Boss, One Born Every Minute and This is England.
Julian is also a former Head of E4 and BBC3 Channel Controller. He began his career as a current affairs producer/director working on ITV’s World in Action and The Big Story and Channel 4’s Dispatches.
