Armando Nuñez is Chairman, Global Distribution Group, and Chief Content Licensing Officer for ViacomCBS. In this role, Nuñez is responsible for overseeing all content licensing, including worldwide multiplatform distribution and domestic syndication, for ViacomCBS-owned programming to third-party platforms.
As the top global distribution executive for ViacomCBS, Nuñez is responsible for monetizing a large and growing portfolio of original content that airs on the CBS Television Network, The CW, CBS All Access and SHOWTIME, as well as programming from Paramount Pictures, Paramount Television, Paramount Players, Paramount Animation, CBS Television Studios, CBS News and the Viacom brands. He also oversees the monetization of the industry’s largest library of film and television titles.
In addition, Nuñez directs CBS Television Distribution, which produces and distributes seven of the top 10 first-run shows in syndication.
Nuñez has held senior leadership positions in international to global media for more than 25 years. He assumed his current role following the close of the merger between CBS Corporation and Viacom in December 2019. Nuñez has been named to multiple “power” lists (including The Hollywood Reporter and Hispanic Business Magazine) as a major television influencer. Recently, he was honored with Variety’s International Achievement in TV Award and was inducted into the 2019 class of the Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame. In 2018 he was named to Variety’s “Dealmakers” list. Most notably, he was one of the first recipients of the inaugural MIPTV Médaille d’Honneur, which recognized six international television executives, including his father, Armando Nuñez Sr., for their achievements in the industry. At the same time, Nuñez received the City of Cannes Gold Medal at Cannes City Hall in a ceremony hosted by then-Mayor Bernard Brochand.
Nuñez is on the executive committee, a member of the board and co-chair of the global committee of NATPE International, as well as a member of the board and executive committee of the International Council of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS). In addition, he is currently on the board of trustees of Fordham University and was formerly on the board of visitors of the George L. Graziadio School of Business and Management at Pepperdine University.
A native of New York, Nuñez graduated from Fordham University with a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing and management.
