Luis Sandoval is a two-time Daytime Emmy® Award Winner television producer and reporter and the lead correspondent of Univision’s Emmy® winning show “Despierta América” (Wake Up, America), the most-watched morning show in Spanish-language television.

For his exceptional reporting on LGBTQ+ issues, he has received the GLAAD Media Award in the category of Outstanding TV Journalism – Newsmagazine (Spanish-Language) in two different occasions, 2021 and 2019. He’s also a four-time Telly Award winner (2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017), as well as a Los Angeles Area Emmy® winner. Luis has also been honored as a distinguished citizen by the Federation of Nayaritas in the United States. He has been at the forefront of connecting with the community.

Luis Sandoval was the co-host of LAnzate (I Dare You), a one-hour show produced in LA that aired on the Univision Network. The show catered to millennials and featured events, concerts, landmarks, artists, and singers across the country.

He also has been part of Univision Network special programs including the Rose Parade and El Grito celebrating Mexico’s Independence Day.  Luis has been part of the Univision family since 2004. 

Luis is a dynamic personality with unparalleled talent, has a laugh-out-loud sense of humor and a tremendous ability to transmit positive energy through the small screen. His gift for connecting with people on a personal level is the reason audiences across the country have fallen in love with his charm.

Luis Sandoval came out as gay during a live broadcast of “Despierta América” with the intention of creating awareness of the issues that young LGBTQ+ Latinos face in America. Currently, Sandoval leads the Los Angeles chapter of “Orgullo Pride,” an employee resource group at Univision dedicated to creating a positive environment for LGBTQ+ employees within the company, advise and guide Univision on content regarding LGBTQ+ issues and community outreach.

Sandoval is an advocate for Orphan kids with the non-profit organization Corazon de Vida since 2012 and is always looking for way to connect and give back to his community. He is a member of the Frida Kahlo Theatre Group in Los Angeles and fluent in English, Spanish as well as Italian.

A native of Tepic, Nayarit Mexico. Sandoval received his B.A. in Communications from the University of Baja California.
