Rod Perth

BioMr. Perth is a television and new media executive whose career spans both creative and senior television management responsibilities. This unusually broad experience includes a comprehensive record of network leadership, with a long record of programming success, which includes developing and creating scripted and reality content for network, cable, and digital platforms. Perth was one of the earliest U.S. based network programmers to develop co-productions as a meaningful new financing and development concept for domestic production. As president of three networks, responsibilities include leading all revenue opportunities and advertiser relationships, strategic planning, marketing, and ultimate P/L responsibility a time of disruptive change to traditional television business models.

President & CEO – NATPE – Content First
NATPE is a 53 year old non-profit, which is the leading television and digital content organization in the U.S., which develops and operates major market/conferences each year in Miami, and Prague. NATPE is the bridge between Content creation and monetization, facilitating and connecting the on-going conversations between Hollywood, International, Digital, and Advertising communities.

President of Television – ReelzChannel Network
Seven years as partner, and co-founder of this Hubbard Broadcasting startup cable network (currently in 62 million U.S. homes), management responsibilities included redefining network concept, co-developing business plans, securing distribution agreements with cable operators, developing original programming, acquiring and negotiating programming agreements, developing and managing ad-sales strategy, establishing digital platforms, developing brand bible, recruiting/hiring and setting staff objectives, and helping establish HR criteria and network culture.

President, Jim Henson Television Worldwide
In addition to managing, co-creating and developing all U.S. and co-produced programs, responsibilities included producing and supervising distribution of seven television programs in the United States for this iconic American & U.K. production company. Specific production duties included being Executive Producer of “Farscape,” produced in Sydney and named the best sci-fi television program in 2000. Mr. Perth was responsible for more than 350 hours of television for both domestic and international markets.

President of Entertainment USA Networks
Successfully led all programming efforts for both USA Network and the SyFi Channels. Perth successfully managed USA’s growth from a cable network which was largely dependent on re-run acquired programming, to a network acclaimed for many original dramatic series, movies and mini-series. These initiatives allowed USA to regain and hold its position as the number one basic cable network. This early pattern of dominance and profitability continue today, as USA and Syfy are critical assets in the Comcast NBC/Universal stable of cable networks.

CBS Television Network - SVP Late Night, & Non-Network Programming
Mr. Perth rose through the business ranks of both the station and network divisions of CBS. As head of late night programming in the nineties, he was one of the network’s primary executives responsible for attracting David Letterman to CBS. The stakes for CBS were huge during one of broadcasting history’s most closely watched corporate battles between networks to sign late night hosts. Mr. Perth was also responsible for establishing a CBS in-house program syndication unit, which became the template for the network’s successful entry into the first-run and off-net programming distribution arena.

Vice President, Station Manager WBBM-TV - Chicago
Mr. Perth’s Management responsibilities included developing local program strategy and development, negotiating all program acquisition agreements, scheduling, on-air marketing strategy, managing all ad-sales activities, and on-air marketing and branding initiatives.

Vice President, General Manager of CBS O&Os National Sales - New York
Earlier in his career, Perth held a variety of ad-sales & senior sales management positions in several major CBS markets. Responsibilities included developing and maintaining relationships with advertisers, achieving ad-sales revenue goals for all CBS owned stations, recruiting and staffing a New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Dallas, Detroit, and San Francisco based sales organization that represented over 40% of the revenue for the CBS television stations.

Publicly held boards include Marvel, and C-Net. Board member - Pasadena Angels (an early-stage investment organization). Past board member of CHNL (a personalized social network browser). Board member and past Chairman of the KCRW Foundation Board (Santa Monica’s renowned public radio station). Past president - Hollywood Radio & Television Society for two terms, and a past board member of NATPE. Mr. Perth is married with three daughters and is a resident of San Marino, California.
