|Bio||Sheri Roder is Horizon Media’s resident idea sparker who leads the WHY team in digging into the complex human emotions and motivations that translate to action –whether that is to tune in, buy a ticket, download a program, recommend to a friend or post a comment-- across the full spectrum of Horizon client partnerships, new business and innovative agency initiatives.
With over 30 years in the communications business, Sheri‘s specialty is illustrating the best path for marketers and programmers through the lenses of people, brands, culture and emotion. This has meant expanding her team to include a trends division, which provides culture-focused consultation to all agency clients. Their NARRATIVE REALMS REPORT has helped project future scenarios for video content producers, show runners and story tellers as well as marketers who use video environments to reach people. It has also been the basis for looking at the future of the broadcast Fall TV Season and the increasing impact of OTT programming on people’s video choices and perceptions.
In leading the WHY team, Sheri has inspired strategies behind both cinema and tune-in efforts for a broad range of clients. Recently she had a hand in launching STX’S THE GIFT, ABC’s hit show SPEECHLESS, the second season success of the Emmy-winning A&E program BORN THIS WAY, and LIFETIME’S biting look at reality romance TV, UNREAL.
Sheri has been recognized as an Advertising Age Woman to Watch, Adweek Media All Star, Cynopsis Top Women in Digital and Broadcasting & Cable Top Planner. She is a long-standing member of the National Academy of Sciences Roundtable on the Communication and Use of Social and Behavioral Science and on the advisory board of the Turner AdLab. Additionally, Sheri is a founding partner of LIMITLESS, a Horizon initiative designed to promote and cultivate female leadership.|
