“The Practicalities of Making a European Co-Production Workshop,” this unique “how to” session is designed to provide detailed information about the steps required to reach global co-production success. Our panel of experts will cover this topic from beginning to end, starting with how to best design an effective pitch right through to with choosing the proper distribution platform.
Enjoy a lunchtime case study session of HBO Europe’s Aranyélet (Golden Life). Aranyelet is an 8 hour drama series produced by HBO Europe that aired in Hungary in the Fall of 2015 to great acclaim. Based on the Finnish format HELPPO ELAMA (“Easy Living”), local writers adapted the story and characters to Hungary. What drew HBO to the project? What were the considerations for adaptation? What was the writing process? How did HBO Europe approach the production. Moderated by Nico Franks, senior reporter at C21, this panel will tackle these questions and more in conversation with Antony Root, executive VP of original programming and production at HBO Europe; Gabor Krigler, creative executive at HBO Hungary; Judit Stalter, series producer from Laokoon Film; and Anna Zavorszky, production executive at HBO Hungary.

Wednesday kicks off with a panel breakfast session “Global Formats: What’s Working, What’s Failing, What’s Next?” In an age of ever increasing consolidation, reliance on major format brands has always been the way forward. Increasingly, local broadcasters and producers are fighting the trend with local and original creations. This world class panel will analyze the past, present and future of the global non-scripted business. Moderated by Clive Wittingham, news editor for C21, the expert panel features Mike Beale, evp of global development and formats, ITV; Pascal Dalton, regional sales director, formats, CEE, Endemol Shine Group; Amos Neumann, COO of Armoza Formats; and Merrily Ross, VP of Formats and Content Development, Modern Times Group.
Day 3: 12 – 1:30P
For lunch, we introducing the all-new “Pitch & Play LIVE” event. A format pitch contest for local producers within CEE region, produced through a partnership between NATPE, CEETV and TVBIZZ, will offer three companies/producers to compete for a prize in front of a panel of blue ribbon judges. The winner will be awarded a development meeting and media exposure for their show.
