BioDeborah McDermott, Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer for Media General, Inc. is one of the most prominent, experienced and well respected broadcasting professionals in the television industry. Media General is one of the nation’s largest multimedia companies with a $2.2 B market cap that covers 23% of U.S. households and 43% of the U.S. internet audience and operates or services 71 television stations in 48 markets. Ms. McDermott has been leading broadcasting organizations since 1996 when she became Executive Vice President-Operations for Young Broadcasting, and, following that, a member of the Board of Directors of Young and then President and CEO of the Company. Following the acquisition of Young Broadcasting by Media General, Ms. McDermott was appointed Senior VP of Broadcast Markets and then rose to her current position in December 2014. In 2013, Ms. McDermott was inducted into the prestigious Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame. She has served as Chair of the National Association of Television Program Executives, the Chair of the ABC Affiliate Board of Governors and has been a member of the Boards of the National Association of Broadcasters, Television Bureau of Advertising, Country Music Association and Maximum Service Telecasters.
