A serial innovator who has made a career out of anticipating media industry trends and then building successful businesses that help media and marketing brands capitalize on them, Stuart McLean is CEO of FAST Studios, which invests in and operates Free Ad-supported Streaming Television (FAST) channels, widely recognized as a major growth opportunity in the content ecosystem. 

From a career start on Madison Avenue that racked up numerous industry honors, to becoming a multi-award-winning brand studio founder and media entrepreneur, McLean has consistently been years ahead of the curve, building and leading companies with one goal in mind: creating scale and enterprise value by leveraging content, advertising and tech.

McLean launched FAST Studios in 2021 to accelerate the next generation of streaming TV channels. FAST creates new premium channel brands supported by a dedicated team of programming, media, marketing and sales experts for a turn-key path to success. FAST simultaneously serves: the dozens of streaming platforms who need quality content channels to draw loyal audiences, brand marketers who must efficiently reach fragmented audiences at scale, and the growing population of streaming viewers who expect premium content experiences.

Prior to founding FAST Studios, McLean provided advisory services to blue-chip brands through his independent brand consultancy, McLean Futures. Clients including Focus Features, Fiat Chrysler America, Ford, Marriott, Endemol and Pepsico, tapped into McLean’s expertise in reaching desirable consumer audiences at scale, wherever they are, whether online, on mobile, on TV or on emerging platforms.

Earlier in his career, McLean was known for founding Content & Co., a trail-blazing player in the creative-led brand studio sector, staffed with best-in-class showrunners, writers, artists, planners and strategic thinkers. During a ten-year run, Content & Co. racked up accolades including being named Subway’s Agency of The Year, creating Ad Age’s “Small Agency Campaign of the Year” in 2014, and earning recognition as one of the Effies’ “Top 10 Most Effective Independent Agencies.” Psyop Media acquired Content & Co. in 2018, expanding the company’s suite of services and creator network.

Before launching Content & Co., his first entrepreneurial venture, McLean worked at JWT where he served as President of its studio division JWTwo after beginning his career on Madison Avenue at Young & Rubicam.

Over the course of his career, McLean has executed successful campaigns for elite brands such as hulu, FOX Sports, NBC Sports, TBS, AB InBev, Unilever, and Subway, among others. He currently sits on the board of Think LA, which was founded to promote Los Angeles as a network of creativity and innovation in media, marketing, and advertising.
